Historical Outline

In 1946, Dr. Dr. (h.c.) Friedrich Kocks founded Kocks Wermelskirchen GmbH. The objective of the company was the provision of engineering and architectural services, the management of buildings of all kinds and the technical and economic auditing and consulting of commercial enterprises. The engineers in the construction departments in Düsseldorf and Koblenz initially began clearing and dismantling the war damage. Subsequently, KOCKS ENGINEERS received an increasing number of orders for the reconstruction of Germany’s infrastructure in the water, transport and civil engineering sectors. It was then that the company’s core expertise developed: providing customers facing challenging and complex infrastructure projects with tailor made integrated engineering solutions from a single source.

The company developed into the F. H. Kocks KG in 1954. With numerous branches throughout Germany, it focussed on the activities of consulting engineers in the construction industry. At the same time, KOCKS ENGINEERS acquired considerable expertise in foreign business. Developing countries, which had been supported by international donors since the founding of the World Bank in 1952, became a focus of consulting, planning and implementation activities. Together with six other leading consultants, KOCKS ENGINEERS founded the Association of Independent Consulting Engineers (VUBI) in 1954, which represented the interests of German civil engineers at home and abroad, in particular at the World Bank.

KOCKS ENGINEERS in their present entity as Kocks Consult GmbH, Koblenz, was founded in 1977. Significant developments and projects of the recent past are presented in the following brochures.
